Family is the largest section here by a wide margin; several hundred stories, and more chapters than any other category in the archive. It is also the one where the messaging format does the most work, because these are stories about people who already share an address, a history and a group chat. The exposition every other genre has to write is simply assumed.

What that produces is a particular kind of tension. A thread between two people who see each other at breakfast cannot reset between chapters, so the pressure accumulates: what was said last night is still there this morning, and the reader watches both parties decide, message by message, whether to acknowledge it.
